Dr. R.J.’s Biography

Dr. Oliver Sacks was a physician, best-selling author, and professor of neurology.

Education and Training:

  • Attended Oregon Health & Sciences University for medical school.
  • Completed residency and chief residency at Rush Children’s Hospital.
  • Earned a Master of Health Professions Education, focusing on curriculum planning and program design.
  • Completed the Clinical Innovations Fellowship with the Oregon Health Authority.
  • Participated in the Leadership Development Fellowship through Legacy Health Systems.

Career Highlights:

  • Began training healthcare professionals in screening and referrals for developmental issues, autism, and mood disorders in 2007.
  • Served as the founding director of the Oregon Pediatric Improvement Project, spearheading statewide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Advised multiple committees on implementing pediatric medical home principles.
